About Dr. Pagán-Peña

Julissa M. Pagán-Peña, PsyD is a bicultural and bilingual clinician who is passionate about serving people in different developmental stages who need guidance and support to find answers for their current struggles. She believes psychotherapy can help to unlock people’s full potential. She considers safety, acceptance, and compassion as the key elements within a therapeutic relationship for healing and change to occur. She also believes that healing occurs when people have reached a deeper understanding of how past and recent experiences have influenced their lives.

 Dr. Pagán-Peña works with children, adolescents, adults, and families and provides therapeutic services in English and Spanish. In her clinical practice, Dr. Pagán-Peña uses a psychodynamic and integrative approach in where the therapeutic relationship is highly collaborative. She enjoys incorporating various techniques such as expressive art, therapeutic play, and sensory-based activities that best meet her clients’ needs. Her areas of focus in therapy are depression and anxiety, non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), self-esteem, stress reduction, behavioral problems in children and adolescents, sexual trauma, ADHD, and relational issues.

 Dr. Pagán-Peña also provides psychological evaluations for children and adolescents. Common evaluation referral questions are learning difficulties, behavioral problems, ADHD, mood disorders, dual diagnosis or other childhood developmental concerns.

 Dr. Pagán-Peña is currently completing her post-doctorate fellowship. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago, IL. Dr. Pagán-Peña has trained in different settings including medical, schools, and community-based organizations. Her clinical work has focused on providing psychological evaluations and psychotherapy services to families and children from diverse cultural backgrounds.
