About Erica
Erica is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas with Master’s Degrees in Professional Counseling and Marriage & Family Counseling from Amberton University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She’s been in the mental health field since 2014 working at inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and outpatient levels of care.
While she has experience treating most mental health conditions, she’s most passionate about helping adults do depth work to determine the underlying reasons behind anxiety, self-esteem issues, binge/emotional eating patterns, and interpersonal relationship conflicts. Erica has specialized training in treating adult children of emotionally immature parents and finds fulfillment in helping clients heal from the emotional abuse/neglect they’ve experienced in childhood that continues to affect their adult life. She is trained in several therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) which allows her to tailor treatment approaches to each client’s needs. As a member of the BIPOC community, she feels it’s important to assess the whole person and takes a multicultural approach to therapy, working to decolonize the therapeutic experience. Erica currently provides all services via telehealth allowing you to engage in therapy from the comfort of your home or fit it into your busy schedule.
Outside of the therapy room, Erica enjoys spending time with family by the pool or at the beach. She loves trying new recipes and enjoys binging a good series and has a never ending list of shows to check out given to her by clients.
Personal Statement
I take a laid back approach to therapy and want you to feel as though you’re simply speaking with a friend. I’ve been told I’m skilled at balancing the accountability needed to achieve change with the compassion you need to feel safe and be vulnerable. I enjoy moving through the emotions and sessions are often filled with laughter as we try to make sense of the world and your experiences. I use a lot of analogies and work to make clinical concepts easy to understand.
